About the Director

Master Yula Sensei, (BA, ST, D.AC, D.TCM, D.CHM, Master of Chi-Kung, Reiki, Zenki-do, Yoga Energetics, and Zen Way of Karate) was born and raised in Central Asia where natural and organic foods and therapies were not a choice but the only option. After he moved to Canada in the early 70’s he realized that his own health was threatened by the modern life style. It was then that he decided to dedicate his life to promoting health through the natural ways of life that he was exposed to from an early age.

Since then he has been studying, practicing and teaching healing arts in the form of Chi Kung, Shiatsu and TCM. He has developed Yoga Energetics, Zenki-Do Martial Arts and Chen Chi Tao Style of Tai Chi, styles, which are presently being practiced in Ontario, the Maritimes and the USA. He is the founder of the Shotokai Association of Maritimes and Centre for the Ways, Wellness Association of Ontario.

His style of practicing and teaching the healing arts is holistic and encompasses nutrition, philosophy, theory, exercise, and energy work (Chi Kung, Parana healing). Master Yula Sensei is a recognized member of the Association of Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine and the Shiatsu Therapists Alliance and a certified instructor and member of the Canadian Practitioners Association of Asian Medicine.

Tai Chi - Chi Kung

There is a golden treasure within us which can be sought, purified, and used for better mental and physical health and longevity. This treasure is known as chi or ki (energy).

Eastern theory and medicine recognizes that all problems are initially caused by the imbalance of the chi energy in the body. Our emphasis is on the medicinal benefits of Tai Chi as we practice and teach it for prevention as well as for improving one’s physical and mental health.

This enhanced program is recommended for those who wish to specialize in Tai Chi and gain a deeper understanding of the movement, philosophies and health values of such a discipline.

Zen-Karateki-Do

Karate is viewed by most people as a form of self defense or sport but Zen-Karateki-Do is not merely a form of self defense. It is a martial art, a science for control of breath and ki (or chi) energy, and it is a way of life (Tao or Do). The ki is the infinite, all pervading energy of the universe as represented in the body.

Practicing Zen-Karateki-Do enhances the ability to control the breath and regulate the flow of ki, and aids in the protection against external or internal threats to well-being or safety.

The practice of Zen-Karateki-Do consists of forms (katas), stretches for flexibility, breathing techniques, meditation, and the application of techniques for self-defense.

Class Schedule & Fees

Zenki-Do

What is Ki?
Ki or Chi (Qi) is the infinite all-pervading energy of the universe.

What is Zenki?
The ancient sages of China realized the Chi in three levels:

1. The Heaven-Chi (Chian-Chi) - the yang aspect of Universal Energy.
2. The Earth-Chi (Di-Chi) - the yin aspect of the Universal Energy.
3. The Humanity (Zen-Chi) - the demonstration of the interplay of the yin and yang.

Understanding the Chian-Chi and Di-Chi has always been very difficult, particularly when they are in their original state (Wu-Chi). The creation, which is the result of interplay between the two, is called Zen-Chi or life energy. When they interplay, they create a state which is called life. When they disconnect, they create another state which is called death. Their weak relationship (imbalance) induces yet another state called illness.

Therefore, Zenki-Do is a way to unify the energies of the Heaven (yang) and the Earth (yin) within one’s body and mind in a balanced way, in order to achieve a healthier and happier state of being.

Zenki-Do integrates forms and techniques from Yoga Energetics, Chi-Kung, Tai Chi, Sufism, Zen Way of Karate, and Oriental Healing Arts, in ways of relaxation, meditation, breathing, posture, forms, applications of internal Martial Arts, and self-healing.

Zenki-Do is offered at the Centre on an ongoing basis as well as through workshops and seminars by the request of other organizations.
